The Worshipful Company of Farmers are a progressive, modern Livery Company and needed a website to reflect their history and heritage but also to engage with and interest their members both young and old and some more averse to technology than others.

When the Company approached Enovate, their existing website had been live since 2009 and although it had served the Company well it was using a content management system that was out of date, it wasn’t responsive so it didn't work on smartphones or tablets, and was in need of a design refresh to bring it into line with modern web design trends.

What we did

What we did

After discussing and agreeing the main requirements of the new site and gaining an understanding of their design likes and dislikes we set about designing and developing a site built on our favourite content management system, Craft CMS.

An events area was a primary feature of the new site and essentially acts as the hub of the site for their members, enabling them to see all the scheduled events and plan which they will attend. Company events can be easily posted and edited via the Craft CMS by the site editors and has proved to be an incredibly useful part of the site as this functionality was lacking in the previous site.

The remaining areas of the site are used to publish content relating to the Company's activities in relation to their courses, grants and awards and an About Us section contains plenty of information on the history, affiliations and charitable work the Company does. We made good use of the Matrix block within Craft to give the site editors maximum control over their pages and the ability to easily adjust how their content - text, images, videos, etc. - appears when published without having to stick rigidly to a pre-defined template.
