Pedal for Poverty ride success

Michael and Dan have raised over £1,100 by taking part in the 75 mile Pedal For Poverty, for long-standing clients Hand in Hand.

Michael and Dan raising money for Pedal For Poverty 2015

At 8:30am on Saturday the 6th of June Michael and Dan were in the car park of the Old Pottery Kiln pub in Witham lined up at the head of a pack of eager cyclists all waiting for the starting ribbon to be cut.

The weather was perfect, if a little windy, but cycling around the country lanes of Essex is always a pleasure - as long as it’s not raining! - but 75 miles is no walk in the park and there were times when the road reared upwards or cramp set in and it felt like very hard work but nothing as difficult as the lives of the vulnerable children we were raising money for.

The fundraising total had hit its target of £1,050 on the morning of the ride and more was to follow bringing the grand total to a staggering £1,144.88 - far more than the £250 target set originally - and bagging Michael and Dan the prize for most money raised, something we could never have done without the generous donations from our clients, friends and family.

After this fantastically successful and enjoyable experience our two riders are already hatching plans for their next event so watch this space and if you haven’t already you can still donate on our JustGiving page.

For more information about the project we were fundraising for, which helps keep orphaned and vulnerable children off the streets in Kenya and give them a future, please visit the Hand in Hand website or Facebook page.
