As a sister-brand of Restock Resources, Restock Direct was to be the client's first foray into e-commerce and the scope of the project had a number of nods towards B2B e-commerce rather than B2C so it was going to push standard Shopify to its limits - a challenge we were excited about and capable of delivering.
Beyond the development of the new Shopify site we were also tasked with creating a refreshed logo based on the existing Restock Resources brand along with a design for the site's look-and-feel that would be converted into a custom Shopify theme and applied to the new site.
The main areas of technical complexity within the project were around how we'd deliver the concept of graded product variants with different prices and stock levels, wishlist functionality and stock notifications which all involved a degree of customisation and finessing to achieve the desired results.

What we did
We began the project with the creative elements, first defining the new logo variant before moving onto the website design process. The site designs were created and iterated on in Figma, making it easy for the client to collaborate and provide feedback to us, and once all the template designs had been signed-off they were based over to the development team to begin coding u the custom Shopify theme that would provide the site's look-and-feel.
Once the development process was underway we could start focussing on how we'd go about delivering the B2B aspects of the projects using the tools available to us with standard Shopify and the plugins available in Shopify's app ecosystem. This involved a degree of research and testing before committing to a suitable approach - be that custom development or by using an app - but the challenges we faced were met and surmounted and we're really pleased with the site we delivered.
The client is delighted with the finished result and it's been a real pleasure seeing them take the reigns with the day-to-day management of the site, not just from the e-commerce side and handling order fulfilment but also adding their own apps and basic styling customisations - proving just how good Shopify is when making your first steps into the world of e-commerce.
