What I Do

I work with Dan to assist with new business, so discussing your requirements and drawing up the initial project proposal and estimate followed by the statement of work and contract.

Once your project is underway I have an active role in all stages of the project, but in particular the design and development. A significant proportion of my time is spent on the web applications we actively design and develop for clients, this includes the day-to-day support and maintenance as well as liaising with clients to discuss and define new features and then implement them.

I also manage our hosting infrastructure, from the office-based servers that run our CI environments through to our staging and production environments and supporting services at Amazon Web Services and Vercel.

Biography

I started my career in web design in 1999 at “strategic internet consultancy” Netforce Group Plc. Whist at Netforce I was involved with client projects for British Car Auctions, QBE, Lloyds, Daily Mail Group and the Corporation of London to name a few. I was also given the task of redesigning the companies own multimedia department website which was a huge responsibility for a junior member of staff.

In 2000 I started a degree in Multimedia Systems and at the same time I started my own company: Enovate Design. During my degree I continued to grow the business by expanding the company website and focusing on search engine optimisation to acquire new customers, to this day recommendations and word-of-mouth deliver the majority of our new business.

After graduating with a 1st class honours degree in 2003 I continued to expand and grow the business. In June of 2017 we made the move from our home for nearly 9 years on Hall Street in Chelmsford city centre over to larger offices at The MedBIC (now Arise Innovation Hub) on the Anglia Ruskin University campus.

Outside of work I have volunteered as a STEM ambassador, sharing my passion for web design with students at a local secondary school by leading after-school web design classes. I also enjoy spending time with my wife and three children and road cycling, and a staple part of my weekend is Chelmsford’s weekly 5km parkrun. For several years I organised and ran two web development Meetup groups: PHP Essex and the London Craft CMS Meetup.
