Earlier this year I was invited to become a volunteer STEM ambassador and take part in the  STEM Project run by the Employability & Skills Unit at Essex County Council. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics and the project's aim is to inspire young people to take an interest in STEM subjects and ultimately encourage more of them to pursue a career in STEM subjects.

For my part I have been delivering a 6 week programme of web design classes at my old secondary school, Chelmer Valley in Broomfield, Essex. So far we've covered web design and some front-end web development with a bright and enthusiastic bunch of year 10 students.

So far we've tackled, albeit fairly briefly, subjects such as HTML5, CSS, web semantics, accessibility and browser compatibility.
