The Brief
The Climate Analytics team contacted us about redesigning and redeveloping their website following a glowing recommendation from one of our other clients operating in a similar field. Following an initial period of requirements gathering we put together a detailed proposal that included logo redesign, colour palette definition, typography as well as a full website redesign and rebuild.
The existing Climate Analytics site had been built on a CMS that wasn’t particularly well used or supported (it was certainly a new one on us and we’ve seen pretty much every CMS out there!) so one challenge was the migration of a high volume of content from the old CMS into the new Craft CMS site.
The new site also required a high volume of web page templates to present a wide range of content types along with a degree of interoperability between sections where certain page types could be related to others to create a rich and engaging experience for visitors.
What we did
The creative team began the project by working through the various branding tasks - logo redesign, colour palette, typography - so that we had a fully-formed brand guide to refer to once we started work on the site design. The creative aspects of any project always present their own unique challenges but on the whole, the branding process went smoothly and resulted in a look-and-feel the client was very happy with.
The website design and development process was extensive, involving the creation of roughly twenty unique page templates for use in the new site. As template designs were completed they were fed into the development teams so that they could be built out and integrated into Craft CMS.
Once the templating process was complete we could move onto the complex task of migrating hundreds and hundreds of pages from the old site into the new site, a complex challenge for sure but one our developers were more than capable of handling.
With the new website built and populated with content we were delighted to launch the site and the feedback we’ve received from the client following the launch has been nothing but positive and we’re already working to add new features and facilities to the site.
