The final product

The Brief

The Pandemic PACT team collect, curate, code and analyse data, in alignment with WHO priority diseases and other selected diseases, including pandemic influenza, mpox and plague.

The project was commissioned and led by the pandemic research team at the University of Oxford but also involved partnership with the Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics, Glopid-R, UKCDR and the Pandemic Sciences Institute.

The brief required the winning bidder to design, develop, host and maintain a website that could ingest the data related to grant funding tracking and present it in a variety of interactive visualisations to highlight gaps in research funding.

The site had to be aesthetically pleasing and easy to use from both a UX and UI perspective but also very flexible so that we could react quickly to needs of the Pandemic PACT team when presenting an expanding dataset in a range of formats.

What we did

The site is composed of two distinct elements, the content that’s built on and edited with Craft CMS and the visualisations that pull live data from Figshare and render that data as interactive visualisations using the Simple Maps library for React.

Since launching the site it’s received a great deal of praise for the attractive design and the depth of insight and interactivity the visualisations provide to the academic and research communities.
