The Worshipful Company of Needlemakers goes live

The Worshipful Company of Needlemakers were granted livery in 1656 and was one of only two livery companies to be granted its charter by Oliver Cromwell.

The Worshipful Company of Needlemakers sprang from one of the original craft guilds. The Company was granted livery in 1656 and was one of only two livery companies to be granted its charter by Oliver Cromwell. Rich in history, the Company's aim is to dispense charitable funds to deserving causes, maintain links with the City and other livery companies and to support the Lord Mayor.

We were approached by The Worshipful Company of Needlemakers after a recommendation from a previous client, as they were very keen to refresh their existing and ‘very dated’ website.

We have built a bespoke Members section that can only be accessed by Liverymen, which allows members to login to the website and view the latest Worshipful Company news, notifications and upcoming events.

Although all of our websites are already fully responsive, part of the project specification from The Worshipful Company was to have a website that could be easily viewed on all devices, as they were keen to address the ever increasing amount of mobile traffic their site was receiving. Not a problem!

The website is very rich in content, so we wanted to provide our client with the easiest possible experience when making updates. The answer, of course, came in the form of Craft, the CMS we have used to build all our new projects since the end of last year.

We are very happy with the final results, as is our client.

From our client:

"We asked Enovate if they could help us re-design our website, which was out of date, tired in appearance and quite basic in content. Michael submitted a very comprehensive proposal to us, covering all aspects, including proposed sitemap, timescale, fee and methodology. He also met with us to answer any queries that we had. As a City of London Livery Company, it takes time for us to go through the necessary processes and committees to move things forward, but once approved Enovate quickly set up a Project Management Tool with milestones and assigned tasks. Enovate then proceeded to design and build the website, whist we produced the written and pictorial content. All the Enovate team were very professional and reacted quickly to our requests and queries, responding with constructive comments and suggestions. They were also very patient with us whist the completed website was appraised by our working group, our Clerk and various committees, all of which took quite a while. Enovate then incorporated all the amendments and 'tweaking' that were the result of this appraisal process, giving us several reviews and further editing opportunities until we were happy to go live.

"The finished website is very good indeed and is a giant leap forward for us, containing links to other sites, news articles and a Twitter feed. It also has a detailed member database which is part of a members only area. The feedback we have had is very positive and we will no doubt be working with the Enovate team again to keep the site updated and to add further facilities.

"We also considered that Enovate's fee for this project represented very good value for money and would recommend their services without hesitation."
